The inspiration for Treasures Toys began when my own children were very young. I loved seeing their faces light up when watching toys come alive in a cartoon or a trip to London to visit Hamleys. My idea was to re-create that magic on a local high street where children, parents and grandparents could visit often and enjoy the experience. It is really important that children are able to touch and play with toys, ask lots of questions and make requests. This might be about birthdays, special gifts or perhaps saving up their pocket money and then have the pleasure in spending this in their local toy shop. My family and I designed our store with all this in mind, so the Treasures Express Train travelling around the shop comes on when children come in, our shop counter was painted by a local children’s artist and has five hidden doors for children to find and see what’s behind each door. Even the stock room door was designed to look like a doorway to a secret world. Our year round free gift wrapping service means you can call in on your way to a birthday party, get some expert toy advice and have your gift wrapped for you. In non-covid times our play tables are packed with toys to test and we run regular competitions.
Treasures opened in September 2010, there have been very few team changes, Sabrina has been with us from our first day and not long after Karen joined our toy team. We have a lot of fun choosing toys for the store and each of our families often help with selections too.
Treasures is part of the Toymaster buying group which ensures we stock all the toy brands you will recognise and we are very price competitive, being part of the buying group means we can share ideas and learn from other independent toy business all around the country too. I hope you will get the opportunity to visit our toy shop in the beautiful market town of Wetherby. Treasures website is managed from our high street shop so it is the same team packing your online orders.
